York proved he possessed a shooter's touch early on in his first NHL campaign.
During his debut season, York led the 1999-00 New York Rangers with 26 goals in 82 games.
The 26 tallies led all rookies, and along with 24 assists, vaulted York to a third-place finish in the Calder Trophy voting.
In 2001-02, he topped those numbers, netting 20 goals and 41 assists with the Rangers and Oilers.
He started the year with the Rangers, but was dealt to Edmonton for a draft pick, Tom Poti and Rem Murray.

Scouting Report (from TSN):
Assets: Has great speed, excellent playmaking ability and impressive durability--despite his lack of size.  Is learning how to play a two-way game and is well on his way to becoming a complete player.
Flaws: Tends to wear down physically because of his smallish stature.  Isn't a natural goal-scorer and may be more effective at center than on the wing.
Career potential: York has opened up a lot of eyes around the league.  While he was used in a variety of role with the Rangers, he'll be counted upon to provide loads of offense to the Oilers lineup.  York's career could turn for the better playing in the Western Conference.
