Although the talented center's NHL transaction log from 1992-2002 reads like a novel, Dopita only played one NHL season --52 games -- in that span.  That's because Dopita chose to play in his native Czech Republic, where he routinely dominated the offensive statistic sheets.  The Buffalo Sabres chose Dopita in sixth round (133rd overall) in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, but he chose to remain in Europe.  The New York Islanders chose Dopita in 1998 after he re-entered the draft, but they also failed to bring the forward to North America.  Meanwhile, Dopita amassed 415 points in 400 games in the Czech League from 1989-2001.  The Philadelphia Flyers finally brought him over in 2001-02, and Dopita notched 11 goals and 16 assists in 52 games.  The Edmonton Oilers acquired Dopita for Entry Draft picks before the 2002-03 season.
