Like a dream come true, Comrie -- an Edmonton native -- made his NHL debut for his hometown team on Hockey Night in Canada on Dec. 30, 2000.  Comrie, the Oilers' third pick (91st overall) in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, scored his first career goal on a smaller stage, but with no less importance.  It proved to be the game-winner in a victory against the Detroit Red Wings on Jan. 20, 2001.  A playmaking center, Comrie blossomed in 2001-02, his second year in the League, collecting 60 points off 33 goals and 27 assists.  Prior to his NHL career, Comrie played two years at Michigan (1998-2000), where he finished with 103 points in 82 games.  He was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award in 2000.

Scouting Report (from TSN):
Assets: Is a deceptively quick player, with above-average hockey sense and an aggressive nature.  Plays the game at top speed, yet is still able to make excellent heads-up passes.  Can plenty of score goals.
Flaws: Doesn't have ideal NHL size.  As a local boy from Edmonton, he'll have pressure to exceed expectations throughout his Oilers career.
Career potential: Comrie is quickly becoming an NHL star.  He has exceeded expectations and gives the Oilers a legitimate first-line center.  He figures to improve his game with each passing season.
