The Los Angeles Kings drafted Green in the second round (30th overall) of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.  That followed a five-year WHL stint in which Green totaled 278 points (142 goals, 136 assists) from 1993-98.  After a year in the AHL, Green joined the Kings in 1998-99, registering four points in 27 games.  The Kings shipped Green to the New York Islanders as part of the 1999 Zigmund Palffy deal.  A year later, Green was moved from the Isles to the Oilers for Roman Hamrlik.  In 2001-02, Green notched 10 goals and five assists in 61 games for the Oilers.
