After four years in
the WHL, Ferguson began his pro career when the Oilers signed him as an
undrafted free agent in 1994. He played four years in the Oilers'
system (1994-98), including one NHL game March 4, 1998. Five days
later, Edmonton shipped Ferguson to the Ottawa Senators for Frank Musil.
The defenseman signed with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim following the 1997-98
campaign and played two League games with them in 1998-99. The Oilers
signed Ferguson again in 2000, and he enjoyed his first prolonged stay
in the NHL in 2001-02, playing 50 games and notching five points. |

Scouting Report
(from TSN): |
Assets: Plays
within his limitations and is always open to instruction. Moves the puck
quickly out of the defensive zone. Is a good team player. |
Flaws: May
not have enough talent to play a regular role in the NHL. Lacks bulk and
offensive flair. |
Career potential:
Ferguson
has worked extremely hard to remain in the NHL but may not have a long-term
future. With several youngsters pushing for playing time, Ferguson can't
let up even for a minute. |
